Hi. I’m Marisa.
I’m a writer, editor, and reporter, and I’ve also been a fact-checker, a lawyer, and an almost-filmmaker (I’ve got a partially-finished documentary about music in Nepal that could be great, if I had the resources to pull it off). I have worked in newsrooms and law firms, and now I’m working out of the apartment in New York City that I share with my husband, our son, our dog, and our two cats. It’s a little crowded.
I started this website after being laid off in September 2020. I set it up to write about whatever came to mind at the time — mostly about The Bachelor/ette, but also some other things. It was fun! And it clarified for me that whatever my next step was, it was going to be as a writer. I landed at Abrams Media after not too long, and since then I’ve been writing and editing every day — my favorite way to make a living.
Between the job and the kid and our little apartment zoo, I don’t get to update this page as much as I want, but I do what I can. Questions? Comments? Like what you see? Feel free to contact me!
